Summer Jobs Opportunities at KMRA

The Kawartha Muslim Religious Association (KMRA) invites applications for the following summer jobs funded by the Government of Canada Summer Jobs (CJS) Program. KMRA is a not-for-profit organization serving the Islamic community residing in the Kawartha region and its surroundings.  In accordance with CJS requirements applicants must be:

  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the

  • Age 15 to 30 at the start of employment.

JOB #1:

 

Job Title: Media Coordinator

Number of Positions: 1

Wages: $14.00 per hr. – 30 hr. per week

Duration: 8 weeks

Starting Date: Week of June. 10, 2019 (expected June. 11, 2019)

Application Closing: Fri. June. 7, 2019 @ 5pm

Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must have good computer skills

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute both social and digital media programs for KMRA

  • Create meaningful print, broadcast and digital media to promote KMRA

  • Offer guidance, career orientation and personal advancement to the youth

  • Provide problem solving, training and strategies and support

  • Assist in planning, developing and supervising all aspects of the youth programs at the KMRA

  • Devise and implement outreach program strategies to recruit, train and coordinate youth activities

  • Additional duties as assigned by the coordinator.

JOB # 2:

 

Job Title: Administration Assistant

Number of Positions: 1

Wages: $14.00 per hr. – 30 hr. per week

Duration: 8 weeks

Starting Date: Week of June. 10, 2019 (expected June. 11, 2019)

Application Closing: Fri. June. 7, 2019 @ 5pm

Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must have good computer skills

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge and skill in computer programs including Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, MS WORD, MS Excel and Adobe Acrobat to conduct research.

  • Working knowledge of KMRA governance structure

  • The ability to work cooperatively, as part of a team, with an understanding of group dynamics.

  • Oral and written communications skills to facilitate, coordinate prepare and present reports.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to source, analyze and present operational and strategic materials.

  • Offer guidance, career orientation and personal advancement to the youth

  • Working with the treasury, organize the receipts and accounting for the masjid.

  • Additional duties as assigned by the coordinator.

JOB # 3:

 

Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Number of Positions: 1

Wages: $14.00 per hr. – 30 hr. per week

Duration: 9 weeks

Starting Date: Week of June. 10, 2019 (expected June. 11, 2019)

Application Closing: Fri. June. 7, 2019 @ 5pm

Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must have good computer skills

Responsibilities:

  • Develop effective volunteer selection, recruitment and management strategies

  • Provide appropriate orientation, training and support for volunteers

  • Develop appropriate mechanisms to assess effectiveness and satisfaction of volunteers

  • Coordinate volunteer events and initiatives

  • Assist  in developing activities and matching participants with activities based on interest and compatibility

  •  Assist in planning, developing and supervising all aspects of youth program at the KMRA

  • Devise and implement outreach program strategies to recruit, train and coordinate volunteers.

  • Additional duties as assigned by the coordinator.
